TIW 026: Redefining Success... For YOU!
The business success code I'm about to talk about may not be popular, but it's far more effective and far less stressful than many of the strategies I've observed.
And if you listen to most of the rhetoric about building a business online today, most the spoken and visual narrative can be summarised like this:
Make 1k per day
Make 100k in Six months
Become a millionaire in 2 years
Have multiple streams of income
Hustle hard
Claim your freedom lifestyle - no debt, vacation anywhere
Drive the luxury car up the drive of the new mansion
Question....
How’s all of this working for you?
How long have you been chasing all of the above and how far has it got you?
Are you happy? Do you feel fulfilled? Are you making a difference and an impact? Does your life have meaning and are you helping others find meaning in their life?
I get it, we need money! And despite the label others may put on it, money isn’t evil, it's the LOVE of money that's evil. But...
For too many of us (I've been guilty!), we've got our priorities all wrong and are destroying our dreams trying to do for ourselves what God promised He'd do for us.
Jesus didn’t say "seek first the money and as you're doing so, you’ll discover His kingdom and His righteousness."
He said “seek first my kingdom and my righteousness and ALL of these things will be added to you besides."
But give me a chance just to explain what "ALL of these things" means to God...
All means ALL!
He really does want you to have it all. And I'm not talking about "name it, claim it, blab it and grab it."
God really does want to take care of you and ensure:
your bills are paid - on time
your children are well taken care of
you have great relationships
you experience life fulfilment
you're living life on purpose
you have real joy and peace
you impact lives
you have unlimited access to His wealth!
And He really does want you to have your desires. He is after all the creator of your desires and He promised that when you delight yourself in Him, He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4
God Knows What Success Looks Like For You
Gary Vaynerchuk a very successful social media mogul was asked, "how do you not feel like a failure." Gary’s response was epic. He talked about how we have to redefine success.
He said we've made success to be all about how many zeros we have in our bank account, what we wear, who we're with but "success needs to be are you happy?"
And God wants you to be happy!
He also knows exactly what will make you happy and this is the very reason the order of priority was for us to seek FIRST His Kingdom.
And do you know why seeking first His Kingdom and Righteousness is also so important for you...
It's the very thing that's going to establish your identity!
Because when you know who you are and whose you are, you no longer have to chase things because what you desire - those desires God birthed in you - will chase you!
Everything you do will come from your desire and your desire will be rooted in your identity. This has to be the prefect solution for banishing envy, competition and hustling hard just so you can impress the people you don't even like!
If you fake your identity know that you could end up living with the wrong person in the wrong place, doing the wrong job surrounded by the wrong people who will make your life totally miserable.
